Directions: From Alton: Travel North on MO Hwy 19 approx. 9.3 miles. Greer Crossing will be on your right, just after you cross over the bridge that spans the Eleven Point River.
From Winona: From US Hwy 60, travel South on MO Hwy 19 approx. 16.6 miles. Greer Crossing will be on your left, just before the Eleven Point River bridge.
About Greer Crossing Rec Area
Greer Crossing Rec Area is located on MO Scenic Hwy 19, where it crosses the Eleven Point River. Floaters will find the area on their right at approx. river mile 16.6, just over ½ mile downstream from where the Greer Spring Branch enters the river. This area offers access to the Eleven Point River, as well as camping, picnic tables, toilets, a boat launch ramp, and ample parking.
The camping area offers 16 single sites and 3 double sites. Each site offers seclusion and privacy, a table, fire ring and lantern post. The campground is set back from the river's edge, and a campground host is on site during the summer. The campground can accomodate RVs up to 34', but no hookups are available. Sites are no reservable, and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The picnic area, located near the boat ramp, offers four individual sites, each with a grill and table(s). Drinking water is typically available from May to October.
Greer Crossing's boat ramp is one of the most popular launch sites with floaters on the Eleven Point River. The area can get very crowded in the summer, especially on holiday weekends.
Following a portion of the Eleven Point section of the Ozark Trail, the 4-mile McCormack-Greer trail will lead hikers from the Greer Crossing Rec Area to McCormack Lake and back. The trail follows along the river, then returns along the hillside overlooking the river.
Fishing is also very popular here, with rainbow trout, smallmouth bass and sunfish being the most popular.
