Details & Directions

Here are two nice little waterfalls located next to Forked Mountain, in the Flatside Wilderness of the Ouachita National Forest.

To get here, from the Jessieville Ranger Office, head North on AR Scenic Highway 7 for about 13 miles, just past the South Fourche Campground, and Turn Right onto FR#86/CR#39. Follow this gravel road East for approx. 4.7 miles, then Turn Right onto FR#793, heading South. Go approx. 0.9 miles down this road, crossing the creek twice, and park at the closed gate marking the Wilderness Area boundary. DO NOT block the gate.

Hike along this closed road, over a few ups and downs, then look to veer off to the Right at about 0.7 on an old road trace. Follow this just a little ways to Forked Mountain Falls at about 0.8.

To get to Twist Cascade from Forked Mtn Falls, go downstream just a little bit and cross the creek on an old, overgrown road trace. Bushwack along this trace as it remains mostly level, and you come to a small creek. The old road trace crosses the small creek, curves to the left, then crosses the creek again. It then curves back to the right and slightly uphill, then will soon come alongside Twist Cascade, which will be down and to your right.
