About Lake Catherine
In the Ouachita Mountains southeast of Hot Springs, on one of Arkansas' Diamond Lakes, sits beautiful Lake Catherine State Park. Lake Catherine creates a peaceful setting for the native stone and wood buildings biult by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's.
The park features eighteen fully-equipped cabins along the shoreline of the lake. Some are rustic-styled, while others are more modern designed. All cabins feature a fully equipped kitchen, and most have wood burning fireplaces. Seventeen of the cabins are one bedroom, and sleep up to six persons. The other cabin is a two bedroom, handicap-accessible cabin. Known as the Polly Crews Cabins, this ADA approved cabin was designed to serve the need of visitors with disabilities.
Sixty-eight campsites are available at the park, all with water and electric hookups, with most sites available along the lakeshore. There are also two Rent-A-Camps available. Each Rent-A-Camp comes with an already set-up tent, two cots, a lantern, stove, and ice chest.
Lake Catherine State Park also has available a marina, launch ramp, pavilion, picnic sites, playground, laundry, and three hiking trails. The marina is open during summer only, and sells bait and fuel. Rental boats, kayaks and canoes, however, are available all year long. Food, gifts, and ice are available at the visitors center, which is next to the swimming area and nature center, both open during summer only.
Park interpreters offer summer programs, boat tours, and guided hikes. Programs are also available during other seasons with advance request. Guided horseback trail rides are offered during summer as well.
