Mt. Magazine State Park Rock Climbing & Hang Gliding

Rock Climbing

At 2,753 feet, Mount Magazine is one of Arkansas' best locations for rock climbing and rappeling. A designated area on the mountain's south bluff overlooking the Petit Jean River Valley is great for sport as well as technical climbing. The sandstone face boasts over 100 routes across it's 1,500 foot width. Some are as high as eighty feet, ranging from 5.5 to 5.12c in difficulty. Climbers must register at the park's visitor center first.

Hang Gliding

Hang Gliding has also been a favorite pastime here at Mount Magazine State Park. Launching from the south face of the mountain, gliders can soar above the beautiful Petit Jean River Valley, with miles and miles of views to soak in. All hang gliders must register at the park visitor center. To fly alone, you must be Class 4 certified. A Class 3 flier can fly with a Class 4. Parking is available at the hang gliding site.
