Allison Cemetery Trail

    Description
  • With three trailheads, this trail provides easy access to the Allison Cemetery, as well as a stroll along the lake's edge. The first trailhead is located near the day-use pavillion, the second is along the side of the road leading to the cabins, and the last is located at the end of the cabin road. This trail can also be shortened by using one of the two connector trails, marked with white arrows.

Asher Creek Trail

    Description
  • Beginning along the west side of the Asher Creek campground, this trail will take hikers up and along Asher Creek valley, passing through the wildlife refuge area. This trail is excellent for wildlfife watching. On its return trip back to the trailhead, it follows along a ridge top, passing through mature stands of timber. This creates for other opportunities of wildlife viewing. There are also two connector trails, marked in white, allowing for shorter hikes.

Lake View Trail

    Description
  • This short, ½ mile looped trail is located in the day-use area of the park, and provides great views of Lake Wappapello. It is marked with blue arrows, and travels in a clockwise direction.

Lake Wappapello Trail

  • Difficulty: Moderate - Strenuous
  • Time: 8 hours - Overnight

    Description
  • A multi-use trail, many mountain bikers and horse-back riders often choose this trail for its rugged beauty, length, and technicality. Although not all that rugged, this trail is neither flat or all that easy. Slightly technical climbs and downhills, plus some low-lying areas that are usually wet or muddy, make this a great trail for all levels of riders, bike and horse both. A large portion of the trail is located outside the state park boundaries, and is within the surrounding Mark Twain National Forest. Backcountry camping is allowed along the trail, at certain designated campsites. A connector trail also allows hikers to connect with the Lake Wappapello section of the Ozark Trail. The trailhead and parking are located along Hwy 172, just inside the park's western boundary.
