Lake Boutin
Trail of Tears State Park Lake Boutin & Mississippi River

Swimming

The 20 acre Lake Boutin offers visitors a sand swimming beach, an accessible, paved sidewalk, and a restroom/change house.

Fishing

Anglers can try their luck in either Lake Boutin or the mighty Mississippi River. Lake Boutin offers a concrete boat launch ramp, but only electric motors are allowed. The lake is stocked with bass, bluegill and catfish. Day use is from 7:00 a.m. to dusk.

The Mississippi River offers fishing opportunities for species such as catfish, perch and carp. A concrete boat ramp is located near the Mississippi River campground. The launch ramp is inaccessible when the Cape Girardeau River Stage is either above 35 feet or below 14 feet. When the river level is high, it floods the road and access to the ramp and this part of the park.
